Breastfeeding

At MWHC, we believe that lactation care is a normal part of postpartum care. The trust that we develop with you during pregnancy will continue after the birth of the baby.

We recommend seeing a lactation consultant:

  • after you have been home with baby for about a day if it is your first baby, and within the first two weeks otherwise.
  • if feeding seems more difficult than you expected
  • if you have concerns or questions about breast or bottle feeding your baby
  • if you have concerns about your breast health after having a baby, whether you are breastfeeding or not
  • if you need help weaning (stopping breastfeeding)
  • if you have questions about medications, surgery, or imaging procedures and breastfeeding safety
We also offer:
  • breastfeeding classes
  • prenatal lactation consultations
  • breast pump flange fittings

Please call us if you would like to sign up for a class or schedule an appointment!
