About Us
Our Philosophy of Care
MWHC believes that women have the right to health care that is not only medically safe, but also deeply attuned to their physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and economic needs.
We believe that childbirth is a natural, healthy process, and the midwife’s role is to support and safeguard this process while skillfully addressing any deviations from the norm. Midwifery is both an art and a science, grounded in evidence-based practice and guided by compassion, respect, and collaboration.
Our clients are active participants in their care, with both the right and the responsibility to shape their own health journeys. Decisions are made in partnership, with midwives and clients standing as equals in a shared process of informed choice. Whether the topic is breastfeeding, pain relief, or circumcision, clients are provided with clear, respectful information and supported in making the choices that reflect their values and circumstances.
Education is the foundation of meaningful, effective care. Through open, ongoing dialogue, knowledge is shared freely between clients and caregivers, empowering families to make informed decisions and fostering trust and confidence throughout the childbearing experience.
Each family defines itself, and all members—partners, siblings, loved ones—are welcome to participate in this profound transition to the extent they wish. Midwives honor the uniqueness of each woman, each birth, and each family, offering care that uplifts, informs, and respects the dignity of all involved.
Individualized
We know that everyone has their own story, desires and priorities. One benefit of a smaller practice is that we are able to get to know each family with unique desires and priorities surrounding your care. You are the expert of your body and the ultimate decision-maker.
Evidence Based
We stay updated on research, current recommendations, standards of care and options for you. Discussions always include risks, benefits and alternatives.
Relationship Focused
We are confident that knowing our clients well makes for a safe and sacred experience for everyone. We will seek to build a trusting relationship with you during each visit we have together. Also, we want to get to know your support network.
Time Intensive
From the time you start your care with us, you will notice that we spend a lot of time with people. Our yearly visits are 60 minutes and prenatal visits range from 30 to 90 minutes face-to-face with your provider. We are with our clients starting from the time they are in active labor, whether at the birth center or the hospital. Our midwives believe that it is important to provide advocacy and support for our patients throughout labor.
Trust in Normal Birth
Midwives know that pregnancy and birth are normal parts of life. We only intervene in accordance with a clinical indication or a woman’s preference.
